1. “Our Father, Who art in Heaven…” (Matthew 6:9). Men who had a strained relationship with their earthly fathers often find it difficult to relate to God as father. Pray for them to be free from a father image that block their understanding and willing to acceptance the true, perfect and loving Father, God who invites them to become His children.
2. “Hallowed be Thy Name…” (Matthew 6:9). Pray for men to reverence the Name of God in word and deed and to resist using God’s Name in any vain manner. Pray for men to surrender to God’s sovereignty in their lives and to bring honor to His Name.
3. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…” (Matthew 6:10). Pray for men to seek the will of God as they search Scripture and dedicate their minds and hearts to the leading of the Holy Spirit on a daily basis.
4. “Give us this day our daily bread…” (Matthew 6:10. Pray for men to see God as their Provider and to depend upon His daily provision as they lead and provide for their own families.
5. “And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us…” (Matthew 6:12). Pray for men to accept the Grace of God in their own lives and to have a forgiving spirit against their wives, children, co-workers and friends.
6. There is a worldwide awareness that men need to be encouraged to assume their God given role of spiritual leadership in their homes. 7. Even though our spirit can often be quite “godly”, our flesh is weak. Pray that we will always be aware of our need to live in dependency of the Lord and allow for His Spirit to lead us. (Philippians 2:13)
8. Men sometimes tend to believe that they own their spouse, and that they can therefore treat her as their property. This is contrary to what the Bible teaches us. In Ephesians 5:5, the apostle Paul says: “Husbands, love your wives. Love them just as Christ loved the church. He gave himself up for her.”
9. Pride and selfishness is always contradictory to God’s will in our lives. Instead, He tells us to be humble. In Philippians 2:2 Paul gives us this advice: “Don’t do anything only to get ahead. Don’t do it because you are proud. Instead, be free of pride. Think of others as better than yourselves.”
10. Let us pray that people we meet today will get a glimpse of God’s love through our lives. The God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness.” (Genesis 1:3) wants to shine His light into our hearts as we believe and follow Jesus Christ, the Light of the world.
11. Praise the Lord that the CA prayer calendar is been published already in 9 languages and used in a growing number of countries. As Christian men seek the Lord in humble, earnest prayer God promises to answer. (2 Chronicles 7:14) Prayer should not be seen as the last resort, but as the place where the work of God starts.
12. Pray for God to grant you His wisdom today as you apply Proverbs 2:22: “Have respect for the Lord and don’t be proud. That will bring you wealth and honor and life.”
13. When we covet, we believe that God’s provision won’t meet our needs. This trap leads many men to overwork and ignore time with their families. Pray that men will heed the tenth commandment, not covet what others have, and deepen their commitment to their families. (Exodus 20:17)
14. “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.” For men, coveting often begins with a second look at a woman. The mind quickly lures them to dwell on what they see and covetousness (the desire for what they see) starts. Pray that men will discipline their eyes and mind and not take that second look at their “neighbor’s wife.” (Job 31:1)
15. Global Report states that about 20.9 millions people are victims of forced labor globally. 75% of them are women and children, which are mostly bought and sold into the sex trade. The percentage of children is climbing as their age is dropping. Please pray for God to intervene and to stop this evil. Be willing to be an agent of restoration and hope for these victims. (Proverbs 31:8.9)
16. The busyness of life combined with the challenges that come with raising kids can cause men to forget that the Bible says children are a blessing. Pray that God will stir men’s hearts to be attentive and godly fathers to their children. (Psalm 127:3)
17. Frustration combined with a lack of godly father role models can cause men to be harsh and unsupportive with their children. Pray that God will help men to love and support their children and not provoke and discourage them. (Colossians 3:21)
18. The World Watch Monitor states that in 2013 more Christians were killed in Syria then during 2012 in the whole world. The atrocities against followers of Jesus Christ are on the rise. Pray that God would grant special grace to those who are paying the ultimate price for their faith and to help us, who live in countries where we have freedom to proclaim the Gospel without fear. (1 Peter 14.15)
19. Heavenly Father, I realize that I have been working hard for you, but to no avail. I see now that your kingdom is a Heavenly Kingdom. My fleshly labor has been in vain. But you have said that my labor is never ever in vain in the Lord. Therefore, I trust you to build your kingdom through me. “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1).
20. Dear God, I have tried so hard for so long to live for you, but I just keep failing. I am so weary. Take me and make me what you want me to be. “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:28-30).
21. The wave of refugees poring into western Countries allows the Church to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ. Pray for a spiritual revival among those who profess the Lord’s Name. Pray for a passion for souls that abandons all selfishness and complacency. Pray for a new understanding for the fact that the Lord identifies with strangers who are hungry, thirsty, and naked (Matthew 25:35.36).
22. Lord Jesus, no matter how much I do for you, it is never good enough. I give up. I cease from all my own fleshly efforts to serve you. I trust you to do the work through me. Thank you for the privilege of resting in you! “There remains therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His” (Hebrews 4:9-10).
23. Dear God, I have been futilely trying to make myself like Christ. Now I see that you have already made me like Christ, when you created me anew in Christ. I am your workmanship. Therefore, I trust you to enable me to walk in newness of life! “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
24. In the political turmoil of our days government officials need Wisdom and Courage to do what is right and just. Pray for those men and women in authority to understand that they are responsible to God the creator of heaven and earth. Pray also for a moral and spiritual awakening in our nation. (Proverbs 14:34)
25. Oh God, thank you for making me your dwellings place. You have joined me to you through my union with Christ. You are the power source for all my labors. Thank you for the privilege of being a co-laborer with you as you labor through me. “For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s husbandry, you are God’s building” (1 Corinthians 3:9).
26. As we intercede, we draw upon the blessings provided by God the Father. He has “blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ… having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ” (Eph. 1:3,5). He guarantees that every believer will someday be glorified with Him in heaven, conformed to the glorious image of His Son (Rom. 8:29).
27. When men feel the need to control, because of low self-esteem, jealousy and difficulties in regulating anger, they easily appeal to verbal and physical abuse and domestic violence. This is an affront to our Lord and damages their spouse and children for life. Pray for the Church to be a place where no such behavior is tolerated but dealt with properly. (1 Corinthians 5:13)
28. We pray for listeners to receive the salvation that has been fully accomplished by God the Son. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace…that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He [God] might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth–in Him” (Eph. 1:6,7,10).
29. The ministry of God, the Holy Spirit convicts people everywhere of their need for a Savior (John 16:8). Believers can persevere through His indwelling presence: “…In whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession [heaven], to the praise of His glory” (Eph. 1:13,14).
30. We who are Gentile believers need to remember to pray for the salvation of the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Just as a remnant of non-Jews have been saved, only a remnant of Jews have received Jesus as their Messiah. However, “the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Rom. 11:29). God still calls everyone to redemption (Rom. 1:16).
31. The only solution to the Middle East crisis is changed hearts. Although many Jews have returned to the land of Israel in unbelief, God promises, “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart…Then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them” (Jer. 29:13; 32:39).
