Prayer Points for January 2020

  1. Saving Grace – Dear God, thank You for Your saving grace! You reconciled me to yourself through my union with Christ. Then You gave me Yourself by imparting Your life to me. Christ is now my life. Your life is what energizes me, sustains me and preserves me. I am grateful that You saved me by Your life! (Ro 5:10)
  2. Reigning in life – Lord Jesus, thank You for the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness. You have made me a king of the King. I receive Your grace for living so that I might reign in this life. I ask You to rule and reign in my life, so that I might exercise responsible leadership. (Ro 5:17)
  3. Indwelled by the Victor – Oh Lord, little did I know that when I received You, I was receiving the Victor. Now Your victorious presence indwells me and Your almighty power resident in me will cause me to triumph over all things. Thank You for making me triumphant in Christ! (2Co 2:14)
  4. The mind of Christ – Dear Lord, remind me that when I become confused and unstable, it is because I have gone back to my old ways. I am trying to figure things out with my natural mind and walking by sight. I have the mind of Christ now. Cause me to see things from Your point of view. I purpose to walk by faith and not by sight. Therefore, I reject double mindedness in Jesus name! (Jas 1:8)
  5. New beginnings – The new year can be symbolic of new beginnings. Pray that husbands will forgive their wife’s and children’s past offenses, both big and small, and love them with a pure heart (Mt 6:12).
  6. Love sacrificially – In many western cultures January is one of the biggest months for divorce inquiries. Pray that men will recommit to loving their wife in a sacrificial way (Eph 5:25) and thank God for the privilege to being a father to their children.
  7. Model perseverance – Pray that fathers will model godly perseverance to their children in whatever trials they face this year (Jas 1:12).
  8. Financial integrity – Pray for husbands and fathers to handle their family’s finances with integrity and submission to God’s standards rather than by the teachings of the world (Mt 6:24).
  9. Evil will be overcome – Thank the Lord that he has overcome the evil one on the cross. Praise him that he soon is coming back to establish his eternal Kingdom. “The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken” (Ps 37:14-15).
  10. Be righteous – Pray for the Lord to grant you a heart that values his righteousness and rejoices first in his grace and love. “Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous” (Ps 37:16-17).
  11. Life by godly values – Before God it’s not important what you have, rather who you are. Pray to live by his standards and to experience his care. “The days of the blameless are known to the Lord, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. But the wicked will perish: The Lord’s enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish – vanish like smoke” (Ps 37:18-20).
  12. Free from greed – Pray for a heart that is free from greed. “The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; those you bless, LORD, will inherit the land, but those you curse will be destroyed.” (Ps 37:21-22)
  13. Passion for God – Pray for a real passion for God. “You, LORD, make firm the steps of those who delight in you; though we may stumble, we will not fall, for you, LORD, uphold us with your hand.” (Ps 37:23-24)
  14. God honors integrity – Pray to be a man of integrity. “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.” (Ps 37:25-26)
  15. God loves the just – Pray for discernment and focus on the Lord. “Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish.” (Ps 37:27-28)
  16. Be Christ’s ambassador – When you invited Jesus Christ into your life, you became His ambassador to other people. Pray that God will show you when, how and to whom He wants you to bring the good news of the gospel. (Ps 96:2-3)
  17. Fight against the flesh – As followers of Christ you should strive to become more and more like him. The apostle Paul reminds us to pick up the fight against sinful habits (Col 3:5-8). Pray that God will help you succeed in your fight against the flesh.
  18. Grow in holiness – Salvation makes us pure in God’s eyes. As human beings, however, we are not yet perfect. Even though we might sometimes like to think we are, we are occasionally reminded about our own weakness. Pray that you, by God’s grace, will grow in holiness day by day. (1Pe 1:15-16)
  19. To know Him and to make Him known – The most important thing in your life as a follower of Christ, is to know Christ and make Him known to other people. Give the Lord thanks that he loves you with an eternal love. Pray that you will succeed in bringing others into His presence. (Hos 6:3)
  20. Use the opportunity – Pray that God will show you a person today that you can talk to, encourage – and possibly lead a few steps closer to Jesus Christ. Pray that He will give you the courage you’ll need to use any opportunity in the best way possible. (Lk 11:9-10)
  21. Power over sin – Jesus provided not only pardon for sin but power over sin. He is our Savior and our Victory! Oh, that we might move from facts to experience in Jesus, allowing him to live His Life through us! Pray that we will! (Rom 6-8)
  22. Your identity in Christ – The Gospel is not only Jesus died for my sins but He died AS ME. Pray for men to understand their identity as being crucified with Christ and now living in resurrection power over sin as we yield to His Spirit. God, help us to be filled daily with Your Spirit. (Rom 6-8)
  23. Walk in the Spirit – Jesus ascended to the Father, then sent His Spirit to indwell believers to empower us to be His witnesses. Pray that we as men will stop trying to live the Christian Life in the power of the flesh and learn to walk in the Spirit. (Acts 1:8)
  24. Bare the fruit of the Spirit – The fruit of the Spirit can never be generated by the energy of the fallen flesh. Pray that we as men will have an hourly hunger to be free from the flesh and liberated by His Holy Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit. (Gal 5:16-26)
  25. Abide in Christ – Abiding in Christ is the only way to live a victorious Life. Oh Lord, enable us to deliberately make the choice to abide in you constantly, experiencing Your Life flow through us those around us, for the glory of God! (Jn 15:1-8)
  26. The great commandment – The Bible commands us to love God with all our heart, soul and mind and our neighbor as ourselves. Be a man who surrenders his total being to the Lord and pray that your love to him will translate in devotion to your family. (Mt 22:36-38)
  27. Be a man of the Word – Be a man of the Word, study, memorize and apply Scripture in your daily life. Pray for the Lord to teach you eternal principles and values and measure by the absolutes of Scripture human behavior and philosophies. (2Ti 3:16.17)
  28. True success – If you are looking for true and lasting success in life, don’t look first for professional or scientific advancements; rather pray for a heart and mind that fears the Lord, meditates in his Word day and night and puts into practice his teaching. (Jos 1:8)
  29. God is always in charge – If you are a child of God, you know that your heavenly father gives only good gifts to his children. Therefore, don’t resist when the going is tough and suffering comes your way. Rather pray for the Lord to give you peace and to grow your faith and understanding of him. (Heb 12:11)
  30. Honor your spouse – Marriage is wonderful gift for a man and a woman who understand their God-given role, love the Lord and serve one another. The loving and stable relationship of the parents is a safe haven for their children. Therefore man, pray that you will honor your spouse as God’s precious gift to you. (Ge 2:18)
  31. Pray for the persecuted church – Statistics show that there are about 100 million persecuted Christians today (OD). This staggering number should not surprise us, since the Lord himself predicted that this would happen. Pray for God to strengthen these victims, so that they will not stop witnessing for him. (1 Pe 4:19)
