- Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matt. 5:9). Pray that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, men will bring peace and calmness to their families and not strife.
- Children need examples of how to face a challenging world. Pray that fathers will demonstrate the peace that comes from keeping their minds focused on God. (Isa. 26:3)
- Pray for divorced husbands. Pray that they will live peaceably with all parties affected by the divorce. (Rom. 12:18)
- Men work very hard to support and care for their families. Pray that they will trust God enough to balance their workloads with much needed rest. (Ps. 4:8)
- “The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Num. 6:26). Pray this for husbands, fathers and grandfathers who are struggling to find peace.
- Lord Jesus, there are times I am tempted to become angry, and sometimes I actually get angry. I even act out by doing something hurtful and hateful, but it never solves anything. Therefore, I reject such fleshly responses. I trust you to cause me to respond the right way – in true righteousness. Thank you for the grace to accomplish your righteous purposes regardless of what happens. (James 1:20)
- Dear God, I am grateful because, since receiving Christ into my life, the source of all goodness now resides in me. Your Word says that I must acknowledge you. So I acknowledge that you are my strength, my patience, my peace and whatever else I need. This acknowledgment is my expression of faith that you in me will accomplish whatever is needed through me. (Philem. 1:6)
- Lord Jesus, you are the source and supply of all my needs. Therefore, by faith I believe that you will do what is needful for me. Since you are faithful, I know that as I trust you to work in me, I will see your works accomplished through me. You will meet my needs, solve my problems and answer my prayers. Thank you for allowing me to see your goodness in the land of the living. (John 11:40)
- Oh Lord, there are so many fearful things going on around me. But then I look at you, the almighty God, and I remember that nothing is too hard for you. You are my strength, my shield and my defender. You have told me not to fear but only to believe. So I trust you to guard and guide me through this dangerous world. (Mark 5:35-36)
- Because men are practical in nature and focus on the immediate challenges of life, they easily overwork and return home exhausted. Pray that you will know how to set your priorities and to apply the Savior’s exhortation: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness” (Matt. 6:33).
- “Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?” (Prov. 20:6). Pray for God to build you into a man of character who loves the Lord with all his heart and who is reliable, committed to truth and a real servant leader in his home.
- Pray for Christ to be first in your life. Be committed to remain in him by obeying his commands. Then you will be able to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit and be a blessing to your family and friends. (John 15:16-17)
- Just pause for a moment in God’s presence and pray with the psalmist: “You have searched us, LORD, and you know us. You know when we sit and when we rise; you perceive our thoughts from afar” (Ps. 139:1-2).
- Being faithful and obedient to God’s Word and principles is countercultural and requires courage and the willingness to be misunderstood. Pray that you will apply God’s expectations in your life in accord with Micah 6:8, “To do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.”
- Confirm before God that you want to live in accordance with his will. “You discern our going out and our lying down; you are familiar with all our ways. Before a word is on our tongue you, LORD, know it completely” (Ps. 139:3-4).
- Thank him for his loving care in your life. “You hem us in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon us. Such knowledge is too wonderful for us, too lofty for us to attain” (Ps. 139:5-6).
- Let the fact of his omniscience sink in for a moment. “Where can we go from your Spirit? Where can we flee from your presence? If we go up to the heavens, you are there; if we make our bed in the depths, you are there. If we rise on the wings of the dawn, if we settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide us, your right hand will hold us fast” (Ps. 139:7-10).
- Share with the Lord your deepest thoughts. “If we say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide us and the light become night around us,’ even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you” (Ps. 139:12).
- Thank the Lord that you are his masterpiece. “For you created our inmost being; you knit us together in our mothers’ wombs. We praise you because we are fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, we know that full well” (Ps. 139:13-14).
- Worship the Lord for his sovereignty. “Our frames were not hidden from you when we were made in the secret places, when we were woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw our unformed body; all the days ordained for us were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Ps. 139:15-16).
- Thank the Lord for his grace and love. “How precious to us are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were we to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand – when we awake, we are still with you” (Ps. 139:17-18).
- Come to the Lord in humble submission. “Search us, God, and know our hearts; test us and know our anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting” (Ps. 139:23-24).
- If you want your neighbors or colleagues to be in heaven with you someday, pray that God will show you how you can pass on his invitation to accept the Christ. (James 1:5)
- If you ask Jesus to visit your neighbor, be aware that our Lord might ask you to go on his behalf. You, and any other follower of Jesus Christ, are his hands and feet in the world until he returns. (Luke 12:2)
- Jesus Christ gave his life for you on Calvary. But there is more: He rose again from the grave to live in and through you. Pray that Jesus will always be clearly visible through your life. (Gal. 2:20)
- When a donkey refuses to drink water, there is a good solution: Find a donkey that is thirsty, and let the obstinate one watch as the other drinks. By seeing the thirsty donkey drinking, the obstinate one will be tempted to try as well. Pray today that your relationship with Christ (the living water) will have the similar impact on people you interact with. (Matt. 5:16)
- When disappointments and trying circumstances threaten to overwhelm you, remember that God has done amazing things for you – and for all human beings. Trust him, praise him and give him thanks! (Ps. 105:1-2)
- Thank the Lord for the privilege and freedom to witness for him in words and deeds. In over 50 countries, Christians are being persecuted because of their faith. Pray for them to find comfort and strength in the Lord and for the Lord to open the hearts and minds of their persecutors to God’s grace and love. (Matt. 5:44)
