- Maintaining grudges produces bitterness, anger and discord in marriages. Pray that husbands will be quick to overlook their wife’s offenses. (Prov. 19:11)
- Children learn from the environment they are in. Pray for fathers to demonstrate an attitude of patience and forgiveness with their families so their children can model those virtues in their own lives. (Col. 3:13)
- Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matt. 5:44). Pray that God will give divorced husbands the strength to apply Jesus’ words when interacting with ex-wives.
- Fathers underestimate the negative impact of their anger on their children. Pray they will regularly submit things that make them angry to God, diffusing their anger in healthy ways. (1 Tim. 2:8)
- Anxiety and fatigue increase vulnerability to temptations and addictions. Pray that husbands and fathers will take time to relax and spend quality time with their wives and families. (Mark 6:31-32)
- The only “assets” you will bring with you to heaven is other human beings – in other words, the people who found Christ through you. Pray that you will have much reason for rejoicing when Jesus Christ returns in glory. (1 Thess. 2:19-20)
- If you feel incompetent as a servant of Christ, don’t despair. The only question Jesus has for you is this: “Are you willing to be my witness?” Give him thanks today that he will use you for his glory! (Eph. 3:20-21)
- As human beings we are always in danger of committing sins no matter how spiritual we are. But when we confess our trespasses, we can always rely on Jesus’ willingness to forgive. Give him thanks today for his mercy and compassion. (1 John 1:9)
- If one of our fellow believers does something that he or she should not have done, we must have compassion and gently restore him or her. Pray that God will give you wisdom to be a good counselor to your fellow believers. (Gal. 6:1-2)
- On their mission trip to Pisidian Antioch, Paul and Barnabas told the Jews in the city: “This is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47). Followers of Christ are under the same command. Ask Jesus today how he wants you to participate in accomplishing the Great Commission.
- Dear God, there are so many negative voices. They have influenced me all too often. No more! Just like you did with Abraham, I believe you will also work in my life. Therefore, I reject unbelief and trust you completely to make the impossible possible. You are the almighty God, and nothing is too hard for you. Hallelujah! (Rom. 4:19-20)
- Lord Jesus, at times my faith is weak. But as I consider the Roman soldier, I understand. You are the one in authority. Therefore, I submit completely to your authority and look to you to make the difference in my life. Now the object of my faith is my great and mighty Lord, which makes my faith great too! (Luke 7:6-9)
- Heavenly Father, I have tried to please you in the past, but now I realize that only what Christ does pleases the Father. So, without faith in Christ, it is impossible to please you. Therefore, I place my faith completely in Christ to live his life through me. I am grateful that my life can now be pleasing to you. (Heb. 11:6)
- Oh Lord, too often I experience doubts. Now I see that doubt is your way of getting my attention. My doubt may be because it is the wrong time, or the wrong way, or the wrong thing. Sometimes it is simply because my faith is in something other than you, Lord. But as I put my faith in you, the doubts will be replaced with confident assurance. (Rom. 14:22-23)
- The title of a wonderful song is “People Need the Lord.” This statement is telling a truth about every human being, but still many people haven’t heard even one word about Jesus. Pray that God will use you today as his messenger to someone who needs to hear this truth: Jesus loves you so dearly that he gave his life to save you. (John 3:16)
- Pray that God will show you how he wants you to contribute in the ongoing process of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world. (Matt. 9:38)
- Thank God that he has put your feet on solid ground – and it’s only because Jesus gave his precious life to save you from eternal death. Pray that our Lord will disciple you and allow you to become an effective disciple maker. (Matt. 28:19-20)
- In many parts of the world, it becomes increasingly difficult these days to live as a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. Pray for strength and perseverance for Christian brothers and sisters who suffer because of their faith. (Heb. 13:3)
- When you face discrimination or persecution because of your Christian faith, thank God for his promises to you. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you and to give you a reward in heaven that has a value way beyond your imagination. (Matt. 5:11-12)
- These days demand that we have Spirit-led courage and determination to speak the truth in love to the cultures we live in. Pray for men to have the Spirit’s boldness in witnessing. (Acts 4:29)
- Speaking the truth in love requires discernment from the Holy Spirit. Pray that as men verbally witness and share truth that it will be in the Spirit’s love. (Eph. 4:15)
- We cannot be silent about the evils in our land. God’s men must use their voices to speak the truth even when it’s unpopular. Pray that we as men, will use our voices to speak scriptural truth into conversations we have with others. (Prov. 31:8)
- Our lives speak louder than our words. Pray for men to lead lives that exemplify the truth of God in daily life, lives filled with the spirit of Jesus. (1 John 3:18)
- Pray for men to be willing to endure persecution for their faithful witness and to love those who would persecute them in any way. (1 Pet. 4:19)
- We sing joyfully to you, Lord, as your righteous ones; it is fitting for the upright to praise you. We sing to you a new song, playing skillfully and shouting for joy. For your word, Lord, is right and true; you are faithful in all you do. You, Lord, love righteousness and justice; the earth is full of your unfailing love. (Ps. 33:1-5)
- Remember today that the Lord is almighty and cares for you. “By your word, LORD, the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of your mouth. You gather the waters of the sea into jars; you put the deep into storehouses” (Ps. 33:6).
- Decide today in your heart that you will be a worshipper of God. “Let all the earth fear you, LORD; let all the people of the world revere you. For you spoke, and it came to be; you commanded, and it stood firm” (Ps. 33:6-9).
- You, Lord, foil the plans of the nations; you thwart the purposes of the peoples. But your plans, Lord, stand firm forever, the purposes of your heart through all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is you, Lord, the people you chose for your inheritance. (Ps. 33:10-12)
- Rest today in the fact that God knows and cares. From heaven you, Lord, look down and see all mankind; from your dwelling place you watch all who live on earth – you who form the hearts of all of us, who consider everything we do (Ps. 33:13-15).
- “No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength. A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength, it cannot save. But your eyes, Lord, are on those who fear you, on those of us whose hope is in your unfailing love, to deliver us from death and keep us alive in famine” (Ps. 33:16-19).
