1. Men fall in their private lives long before they fall in public. Pray that men will invest time into the development of personal character by spending time with the Lord in prayer fellowship and the Word of God. (Rom. 12:1-2)
2. This day and age needs mighty men of God. Pray for men to become militant – not as the extremists in the news but as dedicated soldiers of the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Tim. 2:3-5)
3. Lord Jesus, thank you for living the perfect life and fulfilling the law for us. As you were dying, you triumphantly declared, “It is finished.” You brought an end to the law. As a result, when we receive you as our Lord and Savior, we are no longer under the law; we are now under grace. Therefore, I trust you to fulfill the law in me as you live your life through me. (Rom. 10:4)
4. Oh Lord, you have given me a new heart and written your law on it. Therefore, I delight in your law in my inner being – my new self in Christ. Your law is not a duty, but a delight. Thank you, Lord, for your law, which is pure and perfect. And thank you for your Spirit in me, who will fulfill the law through me. (Rom. 7:22)
5. Heavenly Father, I praise you for the great salvation that you have made available to me through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for this gift of salvation, which I did not deserve and could not earn. You gave yourself for me that you might give yourself to me so that you could live your life through me. By faith I receive you, Lord Jesus, and trust you to live through me. (Eph. 2:8)
6. Dear God, I thank you for your abiding presence in my life through the indwelling Holy Spirit. You are my shield and defender. Therefore, I trust you to fight my battles for me and protect me wherever I go. Anyone who opposes me must face you. Your presence and power will cause my enemies to turn back. (Ps. 9:3)
7. Wives have a deep desire to connect with their husbands on an emotional level, yet men often consider showing emotion to be unmanly. Pray that men will heed Jesus’ example of being more emotionally open and that they will share this openness with their spouses. (John 11:35-36)
8. Husbands sometimes have secrets they are fearful of sharing with their spouses. Pray that the Holy Spirit will move husbands to share their burdens with their spouses and that the wives will respond in a supportive and respectful way. (John 3:19)
9. Alcohol abuse is detrimental on the marriage relationship and can scar the children in many ways. Pray that husbands with drinking problems will humble themselves before God, repent and get help. (Prov. 23:20-21)
10. It has been said that children spell love T-I-M-E. Pray that God will move fathers not simply to find time but instead to make time with their families a high priority. (Luke 18:16)
11. Women often bring their own wounds into marriage. Consequently, they say or do things that are hurtful to their husbands. Pray that God will give their husbands the will to forgive – repeatedly, if necessary. (Matt. 18:21-22)
12. As we intercede, we express our desire to walk in fellowship with God. This attitude brings freedom and confidence. The psalmist prayed: “And I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts.” (Ps. 119:45)
13. Sometimes we drift from living by God’s grace and move toward an attitude of striving and self-effort. But the Holy Spirit who inspires our prayers enables us to live as accepted ones because of the finished work of Christ. “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Cor. 3:17)
14. The Lord Jesus declared, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him” (John 4:23). As we pray for champions to arise, express your worship from the heart according to biblical truth.
15. We pray for lives in harmony with God’s revealed will. This attitude of obedience expresses love for the Lord and appreciates our spiritual union with him. Jesus affirmed, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (John 14:21).
16. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Eph. 1:3). Even when we are faced with disappointments, we can pray with thanksgiving because of the bountiful blessings of the new covenant.
17. God wants everybody to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. If you don’t believe this to be true, just look up 1 Tim. 2:4. Praise God that he has saved you by grace alone!
18. Give thanks to God that he is not looking for errors in our lives. On the contrary, he is looking for sinners who are willing to humble themselves, repent and invite Jesus into their lives as their Savior and best friend. (John 1:12)
19. Are you actively participating in fulfilling the Great Commission? If not, pray that God will help activate you. Tell him today that you, like Isaiah, are willing to participate (Isa. 6:8).
20. Are you anxious about sharing the gospel with your family and friends? If so, you can always ask God for courage (Eph. 6:10). And if you don’t know how to act and what to say, you can ask God for wisdom (James 1:5).
21. The evil one will always do his utmost to prevent you from sharing the good news with other people. But he has been defeated by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. So as long as you are his friend, you have nothing to fear – you are simply out of the devil’s reach. Give thanks to Jesus and praise his name! (Col. 3:3)
22. “Indeed, in him is no guile” (John 1:47). Authenticity and earnest seeking for truth are the qualities that God values. Jesus confirmed that everyone who is of the truth hears his voice (John 18:37). Pray that it also may be said of you that you are a man who is reliable and who stands for truth.
23. One of the trademarks of authentic Christianity is humility. The Lord Jesus exemplified what that means when he washed the feet of his disciples (John 13:1-15). Real humility is serving others in Christ’s love. Pray for Christ to govern your life to the point that you can obey his command and treat others as he treats you.
24. Paul calls the disciple of Jesus to offer his body as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1). The same challenge was given by Jesus when he conditioned the saving of one’s life on the readiness to lose the self-life in obedience to him (Luke 9:24). Be willing to fight against your fleshly nature and surrender your will to the lordship of Christ.
25. “For you have need of patience.” (Heb. 10:36). If you have a hard time reining in your independent spirit and trusting God to take care of matters you can’t resolve, then give yourself exercise in the virtue of patience. Pray for discernment, and resist the urge to solve matters without first hearing from him.
26. Men are often called islands because they have difficulty in communicating their deepest feelings. It’s important for a man to have a good friend who is willing to hear him out as a trusted mentor. “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” (Prov. 27:17). Pray for the Lord to provide someone who will be such a sharpener in your life.
27. The apostle Paul beseeches the believer to be renewed in the spirit and to put on the new man, created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness (Eph. 4:23). Pray that you will be a man of godly character who demonstrates through your mental and moral qualities that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.
28. Pray for the development of TWR men’s ministry involving prayer, programming and discipleship in South Africa, Brazil, Uruguay, the United States, Indonesia, India, Albania, the Czech Republic and Norway. Pray also for Lonnie Berger, the global director of TWR men’s ministry and president of Every Man A Warrior, to experience 1Cor. 16:13-14 as he moves to TWR’s international office in Cary, N.C.
29. Luke 21:25 speaks of the distress and perplexity of the nations. If you follow world news, you can see how this prophecy fits our times. Therefore, don’t get too tired to pray for those in authority in your city and country. Pray for them to seek wisdom from above and to understand that only the fear of God and his justice and righteousness can bring healing to people.
30. “God is love” (1 John 4:8). In his love, he was willing to give his Son, Jesus Christ, as the atonement for the sin of the world. Words are insufficient to properly describe God’s amazing and sacrificial love. Be willing to adore the Savior for his great mercy and love. Pray that you will be an instrument of his love among your family, neighbors and friends. (Rom. 5:5)
